Officina Meccanica Begali has been making precision mechanics since 1960. The owner, I2RTF – Piero Begali, son of a machine gun constructor, designed morse keyers for his personal use when he had some time off and the keyers are now a part of Officina Meccanica Begali’s product portfolio. They offer several models – both paddles and straight keys. The keys are high quality mechanical crafts but Begalis design is quite outstanding – the keyers is like jewels in the shack.
The Magnetic Classic model weights 1,5 kg with silicon feet is standing mountain steady on my desk. The paddle resistance is generated by magnets embedded in micro threaded tubes and can be adjusted from feather light to rock hard with great precision. The paddle gap is also adjusted with fine threaded screws which is kept in position with heavy springs to avoid de-calibration during keying. Even the most sophisticated high speeder can get it the way he wants with this paddle. The paddle arms is made of light-weight aluminum with an oxide finish which give a cool and precise feedback to your fingers. The concise contact clicks is unique to this construction and give even more feedback to the operator. You both feel and hear that the arms make contact. This key gives you a feeling of sophistication and uncompromised precision with a visual appearance which attracts the attention in the shack in a magical way. The Magnetic Classic offers great joy to your CW!
